Autrefois oh, c’est il y a bien longtemps

For three years I followed six old people, ranging in age between 86 and 100 years old, two men and four women, in their daily lives. They live in France, in the province of the Drome. All still live independently on the farms where their ancestors lived. I have become fascinated by their way of life that used to be common, but will no longer exist in a few years. I photographed them in their living environment.

The accompanying photo album is the result of this. They tell about the past; about developments that took place during their lives, which have been of great significance to them and about their lives now. It is a document humain, an image of the elderly in their own special living environment. It is a narrative photo book with text in French and Dutch. Beautifully printed by Rob Stolk’s printing company.
